Paint It Black {May's Counterfeit Kit Challenge Reveal & Blog Hop}

What better way is there to kick off a new month than with a new inspiration kit from the Counterfeit Kit Challenge

This month our inspiration comes from the May/June 2014 Quirky Kits by Crafty Templates and there are three kits 'on offer' to counterfeit - the Main Kit, It's My Party; the Lite Kit, Shiny, Happy People and the Embellishment Kit, You've Got The Love. I'll admit, not one of these kits would tempt me into subscribing, but that's what I love about creating my own counterfeit kits - finding something in our inspiration kits that 'speaks to me' and then creating a kit (from my own stash) that suits me better!

There were two things that caught my attention immediately - the Metallic Gold Triangle Vellum (from the Shiny, Happy People Kit) and the Black & White 'Seeing Stripes' Paper (from the Main Kit 'It's My Party') and I've built a kit, that works for me, based on these two elements!

The vellums that I have included are from fairly recent stash additions and are from the Capsule Geometric Kraft Collection by Papermania. From there, it was an exceptionally easy decision to add in the 6x6 Paper Pack that I had from the matching Capsule Geometric Mono Collection. (It's beautiful. A really modern style with some lovely foiling!)

To mix it up a little, I also included a selection of lovelies from the Jubilee Mint Julep Collection by My Mind's Eye. It includes that lovely Black & White Stripe (so reminiscent of the original kit) and a rather swoonsome 'Ampersand' in Gold.

To spice up my kit, I've added an A4 sheet of Gold Glitter Foam. (I keep including it in kits and never using it. I can't decide how I want to use it. Any ideas?) I've also added a really, really small selection of embellishments - including some of the die-cut shapes and labels from the Capsule Geometric Mono Collection; cute little buttons; some over-sized 'sequins' leftover from my February Kit 'Ready For Spring'. There's also a lovely little sheet of Alphas from Simple Stories.

Last, but not least, I've included the matching Capsule Geometric Stamp Set - and my kit is complete. I don't often build kits around a collection, but it was so quick and matching in additional stash from other collections was so simple once I had a base, that it's definitely the way to make kitting a little easier.

I'm at the end of the Reveal & Blog Hop today, so there's nowhere else to visit. Unless, of course, I was the first stop and you still haven't seen everyone else's kit. If that's the case, head on over to the Counterfeit Kit Challenge to see the reveal in full!

  6. Building from a collection(s)is how many kit clubs operate, so I would consider it totally legit! Especially with gorgeous product like you have here, not to mention your mad photo skills when presenting your kit. Can't tell how thick your glitter piece is but could you use it with a die, or even just skinny random strips?

  8. You put together a very crisp and classic kit - I would love to scrap with this! And I like that you used a collection as your base. It definitely gives everything a nice cohesive look and it saves time when you're putting it together.
