A Light Exists In Spring {Fashion Forward}

A light exists in spring,
Not present on the year,
At any other period.
When March is scarcely here,
A color stands abroad ,
On solitary hills,
That science cannot overtake,
But human nature feels.

From A Light Exists In Spring by Emily Dickinson.

I actually had a completely different Fashion Forward post planned, but I woke up this morning to rays of sunshine and full of the joys of spring. I always feel such relief when the sun starts to shine, the birds start to sing and colour reappears in the world.

So, after a quick stroll around the park, I thought I'd show you an outfit I conjured up during the deepest, darkest days of winter when I was craving some spring sunshine. Florals are always a guaranteed trend during the spring/summer season and this year is no different, but the variation in choice is enormous.

A Light Exists In Spring (19/50)

There are the traditional floral prints - big and bold or small and dainty - along with more graphic interpretations and photographic prints. Floral accents are also a major component of the trend this year, with fabric flowers featuring heavily on necklines, hemlines and in accessories. I'm loving it in all it's blooming gorgeousness!

But, if floral isn't your thing, you can still bring a little bit of spring into your wardrobe by incorporating lighter and brighter colours into your outfits and swapping your winter coats for light trenches or long cardigans - both key trends this spring. Then head out for a walk in the sunshine and take a deep breath full of new life.

  2. love the poem to go along with the outfit. That Emily, she sure could sum it up. I am enjoying sun here in Boston too today. It is still freezing outside, but oh the sun is grand!

  4. Ahhhhh, how soothing. The poem is a nice touch to that Springy outfit. The sun is bright and shining in NY as well. It looks like it should be spring outside (minus the flowers), then I opened my windows and realized how my eyes and hopes can deceive me, lol. However I am still thankful to the big man upstairs for some sun and this beautiful Polyvore you put together <3

  6. Oh, is there anything greater than waking up with rays of sunshine?...
Light green is not really my color, but that outfit is lovely and really smells like Spring!
Anyway, I love floral accents, white highlights and all the nice accessories you picked up :)

  7. Ahhhh. Spring. I can't wait for it to be warm enough to wear pretty dresses and vest tops without having to cover myself in warm things. Fed up of Winter!

I think the dress is fab. I hope it's not hundreds of pounds 'cause I want one!

  8. Very nice indeed. I'd feel fresh, unflappable and beautiful in that, halfway to the girl in the Timotei ad.

  9. Oh my, love the colour of that dress! But what's with setting such high standards by including poetry?! Beautiful choices, stunning presentation, and now literary links too....

  12. I know that you folk in the northern hemisphere are looking forward to Spring (great colour choice in your fashion forward btw), but us in the southern hemisphere are enjoying the warm summer days much too much to be ready for autumn just yet.
