Re-fashioned {Fashion Forward}

I must admit that, under normal circumstances, when I create my 'collections' for Fashion Forward each week, I enjoy the element of being able to pick anything that I like - regardless of whether or not I could afford it in real life. A girl has to dream. Because, in the immortal words of Captain Sensible, "If you don't have a dream, how you gonna have a dream come true?"

Yet there is only so much dreaming, hoping and wishing a girl can do, right? Robbing banks (or little, old ladies) is not an option and since there was some talk amongst ourselves last week of selling organs in order to afford a little luxury, I thought I had best come up with a plan before things got ugly.

So, although I've still put together a super cute outfit for myself (one which I totally wish I had the legs for) and it's just as aspirationally expensive as usual, each of the items I've chosen can be made or re-fashioned using the tutorials I've listed below. You'll probably have all of the items you need to make these pieces lying around in your wardrobe.

I Wish For...

Solid Pleated Tunic - Charlotte Russe, £14. Refashion, Single Pleat Tunic From Men's T-Shirt. Ruby & Ed Cashmere Legwarmers - Asos, £26. Refashion, Sweater Skirt & Legwarmers From Old Sweater. Ridge Wool Mini Skirt - Browns Fashion, £215. Refashion, Sweater Skirt & Legwarmers From Old Sweater. Suede & Elastic Sandal - Browns Fashion, £490. Refashion, DIY: Elastic Banded Pumps.

And the £332, Lanvin Pearl & Ribbon Necklace? I'll be showing you how to make one of those in a tutorial tomorrow. You'll probably have everything you need to make it lying around in your crafty stash. If you don't, I guarantee you'll be able to make it for less than the cost of a Starbucks. So, please, do come back tomorrow!

But before you head off, it's December very, very soon (!) and that means that Katherine will be hosting Fashion Forward next week. In the meantime, have fun looking at everyone else's collections while you wonder if you'd be able to replicate them with some gaffer tape and an old cardboard box.

  1. I have lost seven #'s in the last month and 1/2 and was thinking that I might sew pleats up or down as you please{maybe even side ways} the front of my black dress pants. Looking forward to the tut. Happy happies.

    I so agree with you! I said about the same thing in my post today. Fashion Forward is so much fun without the expense.

    P.S. I should really be studying but I took a few mins to do this one ;) I feel so naughty, lol. I'm off to be a diligent student now, have a wonderful day everyone :)
