Stitching On Paper Class - Sneak Peeks

The idea of stitching on paper might be nothing new, but I'm still amazed by the amount of e-mails that I receive asking me how I've managed to add hand stitching to my cards, or the people who leave me comments telling me that they wouldn't have the confidence to start stitching on their own layouts.

Rather than reply to each and every one of those e-mails and comments individually, I started to think about the idea of hosting a class - for free - to share my own tips and techniques. It's been a long time coming, but I'm ever so proud to announce that Stitching On Paper will start on the 4th August, with tutorials every Saturday and Sunday throughout August.

I'll be exploring how to stitch on paper - covering the basics of hand stitching and machine stitching - then taking those techniques further inspired by stamping, embroidery, cross stitch, string art and quilting. Each element of the class will include tips, techniques and inspiration projects.

Of course, I have a few Guest Designers joining me - Sian Fair, Mel H, Julie Kirk, Kim Dellow, Lisa Hausman, Tricia Simmons, Jemma Sharrock, Jennifer Grace & Lara Watston. Pretty amazing line-up, right? Each of these talented ladies will be sharing their own interpretation of my basic prompts - and I guarantee that you'll be inspired to start stitching on paper to create your own projects. Oh, and did I mention a prize?

Currently...

...avoiding the last fews items in the ironing pile by completing a meme I found via Kirsty.

listening: Simon & Garfunkel: The Definitive Collection. The Sound of Silence is very much The Sound of Sunday.
eating: I've just eaten a very large oatmeal and raisin cookie. But don't tell The Steve.
drinking: Tea? What else?
wearing: Oh...um...my comfies. Jogging pants and a t-shirt.
feeling: Like I've forgotten something.
weather: Blustery.
wanting: To read something new and exciting. Any recommendations?
needing: A neck massage. The cracking makes me feel nauseous.
thinking: About the arrival of autumn but hoping the skies won't always be so grey.
enjoying: Recorded episodes of Glee. Just as good as the first time.
wondering: What to do next. Don't say the ironing...

A Saturday Stroll

I love walking around my local neighbourhood because, despite the fact I've lived here for quite some time, I will always discover something - a new route, a view I didn't know existed or the perfect house (that I can dream of owning some day in the future.)

I found a run down little house just last week, with the perfect view across the hills, but on that trip I didn't have a camera with me. I'll be sure to take some photographs to share with you soon.

Today, I chose a slightly different route - because my curiousity got the better of me and because I wanted to head towards the park so that I could feed the ducks! I think they were pleased to see me. Obviously now that spring has arrived and the lake has thawed, everyone has forgotten about them. But not me, never fear!

Once the ducks were fed, I headed on towards Church Hill and arrived in time to hear the bells ringing four o'clock. The sun was low in the sky and the view was pretty spectacular. (You'll have to imagine it, the camera in my mobile phone isn't all that wonderful.)

After a brief stop to take in the view, it was homeward bound for a well earned cup of tea and a piece of carrot cake. It's what weekends are all about! What have you been up to today?

I Wish...

...that I could bundle this last weekend up into my pocket and bring it out whenever the skies are grey and miserable.
