This month at the Counterfeit Kit Challenge, the inspiration kit(s) were based on the Pop Art Kits from Studio Calico and I could not have been more happy. The kits are full of fun, vibrant colour and I was immediately inspired to create a kit based on a mix of elements from both the Main Kit and the Project Life Kit.
Knowing that September is my busiest month, I wanted to keep my kit purposefully small, as I'll be focusing on creating one or two small projects (as well as trying to finish my Week In The Life Album, using my 'Summer In The City' Counterfeit Kit from August.)
I went straight to the basket of scrap papers that I keep next to my desk and started rummaging and started selecting papers based on the following criteria -
- At least 3" x 4" in size.
- Black & White.
- Graphic, modern patterns.
- Colour.
I then worked through the selection that I had in front of me, trimming down each scrap to 3" x 4" and rounding the corners with my trusted Corner Chomper. I've ended up with a selection of 30 cards - all of which seem to work well as a 'collection'.
In addition to cardstock and patterned papers from American Crafts, We Are Memory Keepers, Echo Park, Sodalicious, Basic Grey and Dear Lizzy, I've included some leftovers from my experiments with watercolour and misting. I love that nothing is going to waste!
With a punch, I used the leftovers from my 'cutting and chomping' to make a stack of small, circular embellishments that echo the die-cuts in the inspiration kits. Just looking at them is making me happy, so I know I'm going to enjoy finding ways to incorporate them in my projects this month.
I also wanted to add in a small selection of embellishments - and, once again - they're a little eclectic. I've included a vibrant washi from Sodalicious, some buttons, brads, stamped images, charms, die-cuts and a handmade circular embellishment I made using some seed beads (when I was testing out ideas for my tutorials!) The sticker sheet is from an old collection by Paperchase - and I was thrilled to find them while rummaging through my stash.
And now, I'm off to make a cup of tea, before I head off to check out the Monthly Linky at the Counterfeit Kit Challenge (where everyone shows off their own kits.) I love this little, after kit making ritual. It's one of my favourite times of the month!
Love the title and the kit! Great job on using up the scraps to make your own cards. Your embellishments are wonderful - very colorful and I like that you included some unusual items too. I can't wait to see what you make with this!

I really like your carefully chosen kit. I often go overboard, but I can tell you thoughtfully chose each piece. Those Chuck Taylor high tops puffy stickers (?) are so much fun!
