Week In The Life: Prepping My Album

Week In The Life starts tomorrow. It will be the first time that I have worked on this amazing idea and I'm really, really keen for this to be the week that I tell some of my simpler stories - the commute; the routine; what's happening at work; how the weather is affecting my mood; why I can't seem to prepare breakfast in advance and have to buy it on the way to work every, single day.

I'm not able to print photographs at home so, at the end of the week, I'll be choosing, editing and printing (and will hopefully have some to take with me to my local scrapbooking club on Saturday.) I'll also be using the notes function on my mobile to store some of the week's 'notables' - so that I have a springboard for my journalling.

Using the 'Summer In The City Kit' that I made for this month's Counterfeit Kit Challenge I've started to prepare my album. All of the pockets in the album are roughly 4x6, so I started by cutting down the papers in the kit to 3x5 and 4x6. I then spaced them out, at random, throughout the album. I'll be adding some full sized pages by printing photographs at 6x8.

I'm not too bothered about how my pages are arranged to begin with. They can, after all, be moved, but really, once they have journalling, photographs and ephemera added, who cares? They all co-ordinate - and this is the joy of having created a counterfeit kit!

You can see that I've started to embellish some of the pocket pages, using my embellishments from the 'Summer In The City Kit'. I started by adding some stamped sentiments, creating little embellishment clusters and adding some stitched detailing. I've also created some additional embellishment clusters to pop in once the photographs have been added. This should save me a lot of time - and make it so much easier - to complete the album once I have all of my photographs. I'm hoping to have it all finished by the end of August. (As I'll want be focused on Learn Something New Every Day during September.)

And, lastly, I've added everything that I'll need to complete my album to a small dish on my work desk. It includes my all time favourite Lawn Fawn Stamp Set - Say Cheese Too!; embellishments from my kit; my trusty Stazon Black Ink; all of my favourite tools and some of the smaller embellishments from my counterfeit kit.

Now, bring on the week!

  2. Great idea to use your kit for your WITL album and once you get your photos printed, it won't take you very much time to put it all together. I also like that you're not stressed about making everything perfect ahead of time.
