Battle Of The Beadsmith, 2014

The Battle Is On! The Battle Of The Beadsmith! Only 256 Seed Bead Artists from around the world have been invited to participate - and I am one of them! As beaders from around the world begin work on their beading projects, it's finally starting to sink in! 

I'm sat, surrounded by small experimental bits of beadwork and untouched cups of tea, wondering why as soon as needle and bead come together all of my original ideas vanish in favour of a new one!

For those of you who may not have heard of The Battle Of The Beadsmith, here's an introduction from Steven Weiss of Beadsmith.

"In an effort to create more awareness of some of the incredible bead artistry being executed by bead masters worldwide, I thought it would be fun to set up a beading "tournament" where original works can be viewed, shared and celebrated, both by the participants and the beading public alike. 256 seed bead artists have been invited to participate in an elimination "tournament" to determine which piece of their original beadwork best captures the imagination of their fellow designers, and the beading public. On April 1st 2014, battle artists will start a single piece of original beadwork and will then have until June 8th to complete and photograph their designs."
