I've been spending a lot of time this week in front of the computer - working with my photographs instead of with my hands and, as a result, My Creative Space has managed to stay relatively clean and tidy. There's always a first time for everything!
I've been using Photoshop Elements to learn more about adding texture and grain to my photographs, adding a softer or more vintage feel to my images.
If you have time before heading over to Kootoyoo to check out all of this week's creative spaces, I'd be grateful if you'd tell me what you think of the effects I've used or tell me your own tips and techniques for altering your photographs.
I love textures but don't often use them for shots I want to scrap, they look great framed and make lovely gifts however. I go through stages where I play around with them a lot and then I don't for a while.
ReplyDeleteJessica Sprague has a great class I took last year that deals with this specifically and I would highly recommend it - Photo Editing and Frame Ups. Pioneeer Woman now has actions that are compatible for PSE, you probably are aware of this, and they are great - there are quite a few that have a vintagey feel to them.
I think half of the trick is to select the right photo to be manipulated - you've done well here! :-)
I love the last image!!!! Texture and color to me looks prfect!
ReplyDeleteI wish I knew some photoshop ...I just don't have the nerves to start working on it =D
I love them all Clair but especially love the last one of the flower. I still can not come to grips with PSE yet lol need to have lots more practice x
ReplyDeleteThey are really interesting. What do you plan to do with them?
ReplyDeleteooohhh, I like!!
ReplyDeleteI have been playing with textures aswell, but nothing that I am 100% happy on.
I love your apple tree shot especially
♥
You're ahead of me with PSE as I have just starting investigating picnik; but it's great fun. I love the apple tree too.
ReplyDeleteLooking good. I have been meaning to find some time to experiment with photoshop.. some day! xo m.
ReplyDeleteI really like the effects on the first photo. Something about the color and the way the tree and fruit look is very interesting. You're a talented lady Miss Clair!
ReplyDeletehave fun!
ReplyDeleteThese are brilliant Clair, I love what you've done with the first photo!
ReplyDeleteI really like the first photo effect, it has a very vintage feeling! I haven't really done much experimenting with photoshop, just use the basic contrast editing, but I've used Rollip.com, some of their filters look like old photos (my moms and dads) that I have from the 70s ;)
ReplyDeleteI really like the effects on your first photo! I think it's the monochromatic feel that I like best.
ReplyDeleteWowsa! They are looking so pretty. I'm loving the first one!
ReplyDeletexoxo
wow, that really does the trick, Clair! I'm a dumbo when it comes to Photoshop - LOL - I can just handle Picasa! :)
ReplyDeleteWell done, your pictures are always fab!
Hey Clair - I'm always messing around with my pics in PS too. Love the vintage apples look. Don't know if you saw my little tutorial here for a hipstamatic effect? I just discovered this site too: Coffee Shop - looks good!
ReplyDeleteLovely and gorgeous! Um, wow? I might just be asking for a little tutorial at some point :-)
