Travelogue {Inspired By Explore}

I may have been away for the majority of Shimelle's latest class - Explore - but I returned to an inbox full of inspiration. I've been working through some of the journalling prompts, coming up with ideas for new scrapbook pages and one thing became extremely evident. Unlike the majority of scrapbookers, I've never really concentrated on scrapping my travels - I love to travel and I have learnt so much through my experiences - so this is a major omission.

It might be a little difficult to create entire albums for each travel experience - it's so much easier to create in the moment or at least while the memories are fresh. So, I've decided to create a travelogue. One album to house all of my travel related scrapbook pages - and I'm going to focus on the journalling. I want to tell the stories of the places, the people and the memories.

Ille De La Cite

I've started simply - using this month's counterfeit kit - by creating what might become a section/title page. The photograph is of Notre Dame and the journalling is simply printed information from our Paris Guide Book.

The style is a little different for me, but I'm liking the super, simple layout which has lots of room for journalling. I may be adapting this layout throughout the album! What is me, though, is the embellishment cluster - a cute flower, some sparkle, a leaf or two and a couple of diecuts. Good enough for Shimelle's Signature Accent Challenge, right?

  1. I'm liking the simple look too! And the idea of using the guidebook information. Sometimes I think what puts me off scrapbooking holidays is knowing where to start with the writing. The guidebook seems like a good plan!

  2. This is such a lovely page. so stylish, so simple, so pretty. Great idea to use the guidebook and also to have somewhere for all your travel memories. I scrap about my travels a lot but right now, my pages are all just piled up - I really ought to break them out into categories. Thanks for the inspiration

  3. The close-up is bee-yoo-ti-full but I can't see the first pic :( I'll try again later and if it's still not visible I'll console myself with the thought that I can see it in person soon :)

  4. Yup, definitely a "signature style" page, Claire! Like Mel, I really love the flower cluster, with that ticket. So pretty and it brings the page to life. Using a piece of the guide book is a great idea too - I've seen a few people do this, but you've incorporated it really well.
    Love it!

  6. What a stunning page! Well, I am sure you could guess that I would say that ... even though this is a very simple design I think it is cetainly still a page that shouts 'Clair', your embellishment cluster is just enough, it really looks fantastic and is such a great journaling idea!

  7. I love your page - I wish I could do clean pages like this - mine end up feeling too empty and then I start adding more and more....your cluster is just enough!

  11. Love your colours, and the way the cluster blends into the tree in the photo and makes it look like blossom.
